The Mix which looks like the galvanised dustbin it was is where the mix or batter was prepared, usually the previous night, for the days baking.
It was mixed by hand to the consistency of a thick porrige. - Riddle
The first stage of the process is the riddling board. The mix is poured onto an oatmeal bed where it is swirled swirled before being taken to the machine. - Machine
The Machine flings the batter onto the hotplate with the face on The rollers and linen cloth elongate the oatcake (more to follow) - Face
